Supporting North Carolina’s firefighters and paramedics can be as simple as buying a concert ticket. The Professional Firefighters and Paramedics of N.C. Presents Neal McCoy in Concert Saturday at 8 p.m. in Dorton Arena. General admission is $28, and doors open at 7 p.m. Buy tickets at www.pffpnc.net or at Dorton Arena Box Office beginning at 5 p.m. on the day of the concert.

The 59th Annual N.C. State Championship Horse Show is Thursday through Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. in the Hunt Horse Complex. Admission is free to morning sessions. Whiplash will perform each night at 6 p.m. during the Saddlebred Show. Tickets are $10 at the gate, and two children ages 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. This event is sponsored by the Raleigh Host Lions Club.
The Great Train Show is coming to the Exposition Center Saturday and Sunday. The largest traveling model train show in the country, offers a variety of operating model railroad and toy layouts for the entire family to enjoy in many different scales and gauges. Exhibitors from across the country with huge operating model train displays. Check them out and get some great ideas for your own layout! If you’re interested in joining a local model railroading club, the Great Train Show is also a great place to visit with some of the clubs in your area and learn more about them. The Old North State Antique Gun and Military Collector Show is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Scott Building. Adult admission is $8, admission for children ages 7 to 12 is $1 and children ages 6 and under are admitted free. This event features arms and memorabilia for sale as well as exhibits and the opportunity to trade or sell items. The show has antique guns and military paraphernalia ranging back to the Civil War.
The American Kennel Club Responsible Dog Ownership Day is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Holshouser Building. Admission is free. Dogs are welcome at this event offering a microchip clinic, dog sport demonstrations, Canine Good Citizenship testing and more.
The Central N.C. Pagan Pride Day is Saturday and Sunday from 10:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the L.R. Harrill Center. Admission is free to this festival that offers rituals, workshops and music. Kids are welcome.
The Raleigh Flea Market is Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Commercial and Education building and surrounding grounds. Come explore the hundreds of booths filled with antiques, clothes and handcrafted goods this weekend.
