Weekend update: May 24-27

This weekend is a holiday weekend, and as such, there will be fewer events at the fairgrounds. But don’t let that stop you from coming out and enjoying the Raleigh Flea Market and the few events that are happening:

The Equestrian Exchange Tack Consignment Sale in the Holshouser Building offers the opportunity to buy and consign anything related to equestrian sport. Saddles, tack, riding clothes, boots, bits, blankets, carts, jewelry, art, helmets and more for all riding disciplines are available. The sale is open Friday thru Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Saturday, the Raleigh Durham Caged Bird Society presents the 25th Annual Pet Bird Fair featuring exotic birds from around the world. Organizers promise a large selection of vendors selling bird-related items, a huge raffle to benefit avian research and conservation. The 15th Annual Cockatiel Show and the 12th Annual Lovebird Show will also be hosted during the day. Admission is free and the event is open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Flea Market is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Each weekend, the Commercial and Education buildings and the outside grounds are host to hundreds of dealers, craftsmen and booths.
