Weekend Update: May 24 – 27

Hanging around home this Memorial Day weekend? You can find plenty of activities at the State Fairgrounds. Come on out to the 45th Southern States Regional Morgan Horse Show, a world-class event with more than 200 Morgans from across the United States. The horses compete in divisions ranging from Hunt and Classic Pleasure to English and Park, with classes both under saddle and in harness. There are also dressage trail and carriage classes and vendors displaying a variety of unique equine gifts. Spectator admission is free. The show starts at 10 a.m Wednesday, and at 9 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Visit the website for the complete schedule of events.

Also, be sure to check out the the Raleigh-Durham Caged Bird Society’s 30th Annual Pet Bird Fair. This event is free and features exotic birds from around the world, a large selection of vendors selling bird-related items and a raffle to benefit avian research and conservation. Event hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 26.

The Flea Market is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Each weekend, the Commercial and Education buildings, the Shoppes at Dorton and the outside grounds are host to hundreds of dealers, craftsmen and booths. Visit www.raleighfleamarket.net
