The fairgrounds are a little quieter than normal this weekend with it being a holiday weekend, but the weather is forecast to be near perfect (low 80s and sunny) to enjoy a beautiful day at the Raleigh Flea Market or to take in one of the other events. The market features hundreds of dealers, craftsmen and booths and is held in the Commercial and Education buildings and outside grounds.

The Southern States Regional Morgan Horse Show takes place this weekend at the Hunt Horse Complex. This is the 42nd year of the event and more than 200 Morgans from across the United States travel to compete in divisions ranging from Hunt and Classic Pleasure to English and Park classes both under saddle and in harness. There are also dressage, trail and carriage classes, as well as vendors displaying a variety of unique equine gifts. Admission is free. Classes will take place throughout the day in the main arena and outdoor rings.
On Saturday, the Raleigh Durham Caged Bird Society will hold its 26th Annual Pet Bird Fair in the Scott Building. The event features exotic birds from around the world, vendors selling bird-related items and a raffle to benefit avian research and conservation. Admission is free. Event hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
