This weekend the fairgrounds is the place to be as the annual Got to Be N.C. Festival brings a mix of food, music, carnival rides and games, antique farm equipment and grandstand entertainment. Gate admission is free. Festival hours are Friday, noon to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Building and exhibit hours are Friday, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m .to 6 p.m.
Sample and buy food, beer and wine from more than 80 North Carolina companies in the Food, Wine and Beer Expo. Admission to the expo is $2 and includes redeemable coupons from vendors. Check out a blog post from earlier this week on the expo.
The Carolina Pig Jig is Saturday and features a barbecue competition and sale from 30 different Masonic groups in North Carolina. Admission to the Pig Jig is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 7 to 11 and free for children under 7. Hours are 11 a.m. until the barbecue runs out.
Treat your kids to the pony rides, racing pigs and a Kidz Corral Activity Zone. A parade of antique tractors will be held daily at 1 p.m. Stay for the fireworks on Friday and Saturday at 9:15 p.m. This event is loads of fun for the whole family.
