A few favorite events return to the fairgrounds this weekend. Come on out and enjoy free parking and beautiful weather.
Events this weekend:
The Dixie Gun and Knife Classic will be held in the Graham Building on Saturday and Sunday. Modern and collectible firearms, custom-made knives, hunting and fishing equipment, ammo, gun accessories and more will be available to buy, sell or trade. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $9 for adults, and children ages 12 and under are free with paying adult. A discount coupon is available on their website. Unloaded firearms can be brought to the show for sell or trade. No cases are allowed, and actions should be open. Patrons with firearms should enter through Gate 4.
Double L Bar Cowboy Mounted Shooters is Friday and Saturday at the Hunt Horse Complex and features riders dressed in period and contemporary Western costumes. Riders on horseback shoot balloons from their galloping horses in the main arena with six guns, rifles and shotguns using safety blanks. The timed event combines shooting skill with horsemanship. Shows start at 7 p.m and admission is free.
Also at the Hunt Horse Complex is the Triangle Wide Horseman’s Association May Days horse show event featuring halter, Western, English and saddle seat classes for all horse breeds. Activities begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Free admission.
The Raleigh Flea Market will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with hundreds of vendors offering a variety of goods and services in the Commercial and Education buildings and the outside grounds.
One Tribe Fest 2015 will be Saturday in the Holshouser Building. This event showcases local artisans and businesses, crafters, natural products, jewelry, holistic healers, intuitive readers, as well as healing crystals, angelic art, sacred music, drum circle and more. Hours are 9:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission $5. Ages 12 and under are admitted free.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Exposition Center will host the Franchise & Business Opportunities Show, which focuses on self-employment opportunities for individuals wanting to start a full or part-time business of their own, or wishing to add on to their existing business. Show hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5.
