Weekend Update: July 7-9

The RK Prepper Expo provides the best survival equipment and instructional seminars so you can prepare for the worst.

At the fairgrounds this week, you’ll find everything from survival essentials to crafting tools. Here’s what’s going on:

  • The Gem and Jewelry Show offers up a variety of gems, including bead collections, crystals and minerals from vendors across the country. Dealers will also showcase some rare items, such as giant shark’s teeth and fossils. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Scott Building Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and admission is free.
  • The Rubber Stamp and Scrapbooking Show runs Friday to Sunday in the Exposition Center. The event will feature a variety of training classes, with vendors offering rubber stamps, scrapbook and paper crafts and supplies. The Make and Take Project Party is Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission is $35, which includes project materials and admission for Saturday and Sunday. Show hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission for ages 13 and up is $7 at the door or $6 in advance for a two-day pass.

    The Rubber Stamp and Scrapbooking Show will teach you how to make personalized cards and more.

  • The RK Prepper Survival and Green Living Expo will feature hundreds of booths with long-term food storage equipment, solar power tools, bug-out kits, tactical gear and more. The show will be Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Graham Building. Admission is $12 for ages 13 and up, $5 for ages 6 to 12 and free for children under 5.
  • The Raleigh Flea Market presents a wide variety of collectibles, clothing, home goods and more. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Commercial and Education buildings and outdoor grounds.
