Weekend Update: July 5-8

Saturday is for beer lovers

No craft beer lover should miss the 13th annual World Beer Festival this weekend at the Fairgrounds. With over 75 breweries participating from all parts of the country, it bills itself as the premier beer festival in the Triangle. Attendees can sample from more than 250 beers in a variety of styles, enjoy a meal from the food truck rodeo and live entertainment, silent Disco and more. Hours are Saturday, July 7, noon to 4 p.m. or 6 to 10 p.m. in the Graham Building. General Admission tickets are $35, VIP tickets are $50 and designated driver tickets are $25.

State 4-H Horse Show
The State 4-H Horse Show will feature more than 2,600 entries in 123 classes, highlighting youth and 4-H members ages 5 to 18 as they exhibit their project animals and demonstrate a wide variety of riding disciplines, including speed events, hunt seat, dressage, Western, saddle seat and non-trotting classes. Spectator admission is free. Hours are 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Hunt Horse Complex.

Gem & Jewelry Show
At the Gem & Jewelry Show, dealers will offer a variety of gems, jewelry, crystals, minerals and beads for show and sale. Rare minerals, giant shark’s teeth and fossils will also be on display. Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Scott Building. Admission is free.

Rubber Stamp & Scrapbooking Show
SSAT Shows presents their Stamp Scrap Art Tour with vendors and classes offering rubber stamps, scrapbook and paper crafts training and supplies. Children are welcome with adult supervision. General admission for Saturday and Sunday includes Make & Take experiences – some free and some with purchase of materials. The Make & Take Project Party Special Event is Friday, 7 to 10 p.m. Pre-registration is $35 and includes project materials and Saturday and Sunday admission. General public show hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Exposition Center. Ages 12 and younger are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Admission for ages 13 and older for a  two-day pass is $7 at the door or $6 in advance.
