Weekend Update: July 21-23

The Circo Hermanos Vazquez will feature a wide variety of circus acts appropriate for the whole family.

Looking for kids’ back-to-school clothes? The Kids Exchange Consignment Sale is happening this weekend at the fairgrounds. Attendees can expect to find discounted clothes, toys and more. Most items will be sold at about one-third of their original price. All items will be half price on Sunday. The event will run Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Graham Building and Exposition Center. Admission is free for all ages.

Other events:

  • The Sports Card, Memorabilia and Comic Con is Friday through Sunday in the Scott Building. There will be over 80 exhibitors buying, selling and trading new and old sports cards, comics and other memorabilia. The event will also feature several autograph guests, including J.R. Reid, Kelvin Bryant and Ed Ott. Hours are Friday from 2 to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission for ages 16 and up is $5 per day or $7 for a weekend pass. Admission for ages 15 and under is free.
  • The NCHJA Hunter Jumper Horse Show is Friday through Sunday in the Hunt Horse Complex. The events will begin at 8 a.m. each day. The shows contain competitors mainly from North Carolina, and are NCHJA “C” rated. Admission is free for spectators.
  • The Circo Hermanos Vazquez first performance is Friday, and the final performance is Monday, July 31, in the Trinity and Blue Ridge lots. The show times are Monday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday show times are 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. General admission is $35, and children admission is $15.

The Sports Card, Memorabilia and Comic Con will have over 225 booths where you can buy, sell and trade items.
