July 4th kept things quiet at the fairgrounds last weekend, but now we’re back with events for horse, jewel and gem enthusiasts.
The State 4-H Horse Show began Wednesday and continues through Sunday. Hours this weekend are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The show features more than 2,600 entries in 123 classes that highlight youth 4-H members. The exhibitors are demonstrating their riding and management skills with their animals to the panel of judges. Admission is free for all spectators, so don’t miss this opportunity to support 4-H.
The Gem and Jewelry Show is always a popular event, and we’re lucky to have it back. This weekend, gem dealers will return to the Scott Building with their finest shark teeth, rare minerals and fossils for show and sale. The show will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and admission is free.
