Weekend Update: Jan. 22-24

Winter weather is playing havoc with events at the Fairgrounds this weekend. The Next Level Fight Club Mixed Martial Arts Competition scheduled in the Scott Building on Saturday and DogGoneFast Flyball Club Flyball Tournament scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in the Holshouser Building have been cancelled and will reschedule. The Raleigh Flea Market will be closed on Saturday. Be sure to check with the event organizer before coming to the fairgrounds to be sure it is still being held. The Kids Exchange Consignment Sale is today through Sunday.

The Kids Exchange Consignment Sale is Friday through Tuesday, rain, snow or shine.

RAIN, SNOW OR SHINE: Parents and grandparents can save big this weekend at the Kids Exchange Consignment Sale in the Graham Building and Exposition Center. Come browse and shop through more than 3 acres of gently used clothes, toys, accessories, furniture, bedding, books, videos and more. Due to the weather, the event has been extended through Tuesday. Check out the revised schedule below. Admission is free.

Friday 1/22: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. full price
Saturday 1/23: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. full price
Sunday 1/24: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. full price
Monday 1/25: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. full price
Monday 1/25: 4 p.m.-8 p.m.
Tuesday 1/26: 9 a.m. -5 p.m.
Wednesday: Sellers pick up unsold items 10 a.m. -1 p.m.

Other events this weekend:

RAIN, SNOW OR SHINE: NCHJA “C” Indoor Hunter/Jumper Show will be at the Hunt Horse Complex. Daily show begins at 8 a.m. Spectator admission is free.

(UPDATE: Event moved to Sunday. Doors open at 11 a.m. and competition starts at noon.) RAIN, SNOW OR SHINE: The Champion Cheerleading Competition is Saturday in Dorton Arena.  This is a North Carolina All-School Cheer & Dance Championship and the “Champions of the East” All-Star Cheer & Dance Championship. Competition features cheerleaders and dancers of all ages competing to win their age divisions and grand champion. Admission is $14 for ages 13-64; $8 for ages 6 to 12 and 65-plus, and free for children under age six.

(UPDATE: Event Postponed – to be rescheduled at a later date) Church Alive Service will be Sunday in Dorton Arena. Service starts at 10 a.m. and admission is free. Everyone is welcome.

The Raleigh Flea Market will be closed Saturday because of the weather, but open Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Offering products from hundreds of vendors, visitors will find everything from home baked goods to antiques at the market.

***Bonus event: On Monday, Jan. 25 the NCSU Collegiate Wrestling Competition hosts UNC in ACC competition in Dorton Arena. Event start at 7 p.m.  Wolfpack Wrestling at its best!

On the blog I go by Fun House (AKA Heather Overton). At the Fair you'll find me checking out the blue ribbon winners or hanging out in Heritage Circle. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite part of the Fair, but I can tell you one thing I hate - leaving it on the last day. I can't wait for opening day!
