Weekend Update: Aug. 2 – 5

A day to enjoy Japanese culture

The 2018 Japan Summer Festival is Saturday in the Exposition Center. This year’s Japanese Natsu Matsuri Summer Festival will feature traditional street food and drink, including Japanese beer. Attendees can enjoy stage entertainment and traditional Japanese bon odori dancing, performances with taiko drums and other Japanese musical instruments, Japanese choir and musicians, martial arts demos and other Japanese cultural entertainment. Tables will be hosted by other Japanese interest groups and will feature traditional Japanese games for children, displays of Japanese arts and crafts, cultural presentations and Japanese items for sale or trade. Advance ticket admission is $5 for ages 13 and older. The advance tickets will grant admission from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free for ages 12 and younger. Advance tickets can be purchased at NC Japan Summer Festival ADVANCE TICKETS . Regular admission is $6 for ages 13 and older and is good from 1 to 7 p.m. Purchase tickets at the Exposition Center Saturday at noon. Regular admission is free for ages 12 and younger.

Finally Farm Show Series
The Summer Special Horse Show is a combined event with Finally Farm Horse Show Series and Johnston County Show Series. Spectator admission is free. Both shows are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Hunt Horse Complex.

Dixie Gun & Knife Classic
The Dixie Gun & Knife Classic will feature modern and collectible firearms, custom-made knives, hunting and fishing equipment, ammo, gun accessories, reloading supplies and more for buy, sell or trade. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Graham Building. Admission is $9 for adults. Children 12 and younger are free with a paying adult. A $1 discount admission coupon is available on the event website.
