Weekend Update: April 13-15

Collectibles and other one-of-a-kind treasures available weekends at the Fairgrounds Flea Market

Saturday’s Sports Card, Memorabilia, & Comic Con  will include the UNC Tar Heel seniors from the 2017 NCAA National Basketball Championship signing autographs.  More than 75 exhibitors will be buying, selling and trading vintage to new sportscards, memorabilia and comics on over 160 tables on Saturday in the Scott Building. Autograph guests include the “Teddy Bear Girl” Addy Miller from The Walking Dead, former MLB pitcher Jose Nunez and UNC Chapel Hill 2017 NCAA National Championship Team seniors Kennedy Meeks, Isaiah Hicks, Nate Britt and Stillman White from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5. Free admission for ages 15 and under. Check out the website for a discount admission coupon.

Other events:

Raleigh Invitational Horse Show runs through Saturday at the Hunt Horse Complex. This is an American Saddle Bred and Morgan horse show and serves as a qualifier for the World Championship Horse Show. Free spectator admission. Session times on Thursday and Friday are at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday sessions start  at 9 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.

45th Annual Raleigh Hamfest is Saturday in the Graham Building. Check out new and used amateur radio and electronic equipment. Amateur Radio License Examinations start at 9 a.m.  Event also includes forums, construction projects and a youth station. Show hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Advance tickets are $8 with advanced registration or $10 at the door.

The annual Calvary Chapel Cary Easter Celebration is Sunday in Dorton Arena. Everyone is welcome. Service is at 10 a.m. to noon. Admission is free.

The Raleigh Flea Market is Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Commercial and Education buildings and surrounding grounds. Do you have company in town for Easter or just want a fun way to enjoy the spring temperatures? Come out and browse for treasures at the flea market, one of the largest in the southeast.  Visitors will find hundreds of booths filled with antiques, clothes and handcrafted goods this weekend.

On the blog I go by Fun House (AKA Heather Overton). At the Fair you'll find me checking out the blue ribbon winners or hanging out in Heritage Circle. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite part of the Fair, but I can tell you one thing I hate - leaving it on the last day. I can't wait for opening day!
