Tour de Quilts

If you haven’t had a chance to wander around the Education Building to admire the quilts, cakes and clothes, check out the video we put together of the highlights of the competition. (Warning: There is music on this video, so you may want to check your volume before you’re blasted away.)

The “broken down” red dollhouse you see at the end won best in show for the adult category of the County Fair Best in Show. This category receives the best in show winners from each county Fair in North Carolina, so winning really is a top honor. This entry is interesting in its raggedy take on a traditional dollhouse, like a mini take on all the haunted house going up for Halloween.

About Cotton Candy

Karlie Justus - blogged for the 2008 / 2009 N.C. State Fairs. This is her bio from 2009: When I'm not blogging for the N.C. State Fair, I go by Karlie Justus--but Cotton Candy suits me just fine. My earliest memories of the Fair are of the times my parents would bring my brother and I up from Asheville, N.C. for a double dose of the Fair and a N.C. State football game. Fast-forward two decades later, and I'm a public information officer for the deep fried celebration whose must-see Fair attractions include the giant pumpkins, decorated cakes and deep fried Oreos.
