Weekend Update: April 6-8

Don’t be alarmed if you see a bunch of robots moving around Dorton Arena this weekend. The robots aren’t dangerous; they are part of the 2012 NC FIRST Robotics Regional. NC FIRST encourages students to pursue degrees in science and technology through hands-on experiences, such as building robots. During the tournament, high school teams from across the country will control their robots through a series of challenges. Weekend Update: March 30-April 1

It’s hard to believe we’ve almost wrapped up the first three months of 2012. That means the State Fair will be here before you know it. Sadly, it’s not this weekend. But, there are plenty of activities going on at the fairgrounds we think you will enjoy. The Wake County Library Book Sale started Thursday in the Graham Building with more than 450,000 items for sale. Weekend Update: March 23-25

Spring has sprung, which means it must be time for the Kennel Club Dog Show. The Championship Purebred AKC event started yesterday and will continue through Sunday. Area kennel clubs will host daily dog shows, obedience and rally trials. Shows will run in the Graham Building from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m each day. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 7-12. Senior citizens and children under 7 are admitted free. We’ve got two big events at the Hunt Horse Complex as well as the Dixie Deer Classic, which will fill the Graham Building, Expo Center, Dorton Arena and Scott Building.
