We had a blast bringing the N.C. State Fair to you in lots of new ways last year, through Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and here on the blog. Social media allowed us to interact with fair visitors in a whole new way, and we’re already working on more ways to do that in 2009. Right now, we’re working on pulling together lots of facts, figures and stories about our social media campaign for March 24’s Social Media Breakfast in Raleigh. Twitter!

You asked for it, and the N.C. State Fair is now on Twitter. You can follow all of our “tweets” at twitter.com/ncstatefair. For the unitiated, Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates (tweets) which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. (Thanks for the summary, Wikipedia!) It’s kind of like a blend of Facebook, text messaging and instant messaging. We’re really excited to use this during the Fair from all over the grounds.
