Tilt-A-Whirl here, signing off at least for now

Today marks my last day with the N.C. State Fair through North Carolina’s State Government Internship Program. Though it is cliche to say, I can’t believe that my time at the fair has come to a close so quickly. I feel as though it was just yesterday that I met all the wonderful people that I’ve worked with here. The good news is that I will be back to assist the Deep Fried Crew during their busiest time before, during and immediately after the fair. Twitter roundup: Ten terrifying rides you won’t want to miss at this year’s State Fair

The first ride debuted at the N.C. State Fair in 1891. It was called the Switchback Railway and is similar to what we think of today as a roller coaster. Since that time, the number of rides and the importance of the midway has increased as the fair has moved away from focusing solely on agriculture to promoting and celebrating North Carolina industry and culture more generally.
