An unusually large harvest of fun

Bumper Crop: (-adj) an unusually large, fine or abundant harvest. We’ve been bumping this theme around for probably six years now, but just haven’t done anything with it in favor of other ideas, such as Celebrate What’s Great, Whole Lotta Happy, Take Time For A Great Time and others. But each year in our brainstorming sessions, it gets brought up again and again. One year, we went so far as to get the designers to try to figure out a logo to go along with the theme. But, nothing seemed to visually match what was going on in our heads….

Sharing is caring

Last week, we announced “Love A Fair“ as the 2011 N.C. State Fair theme. It’s been great to hear from everyone who remembers the first time the theme was used back in the 70s. Thanks for sharing your memories with us. Honestly, hearing stories from fairgoers is one of the best parts of this job. Sure, we get to test the latest rides and try the newest deep-fried creation, but the best part is hearing from you. Announcing the 2011 N.C. State Fair theme

Each year, we are tasked with creating a theme and logo for the coming State Fair. This is done in conjunction with our advertising agency. It’s not easy to encapsulate in a few words the excitement, flavors, colors, people and traditions that are part of the Fair. It’s a process that takes several weeks, but we love this creative time and how it makes us think about the many things that make the State Fair special.
