The annual Southern Farm Show, the largest agricultural exposition in the Carolinas and Virginia, is underway. The event runs through Feb. 2 and features more than 400 manufacturers with expert advice and the latest farm equipment, supplies and services. Celebrate the Year of the Dog, Volksfest this weekend

Saturday’s celebration of the Chinese Year of the Dog will be held Saturday in Dorton Arena. The Chinese New Year celebration will feature many Chinese and Asian cultural performances, such as lion and dragon dances, vocal performers and traditional Chinese music, food and crafts. The event, sponsored by the  Triangle Area Chinese American Society, takes place in the Expo Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the door for adults or free to children ages 6 and under. Weekend Update: Jan. 27-29

The Triangle’s largest Chinese New Year Festival is this Saturday in Dorton Arena. Celebrate the Year of the Rooster with Chinese and Asian cultural performances on stage, exhibits, food and merchandise vendors offering arts and crafts for the entire family to enjoy. Things will be mostly quiet this weekend at the fairgrounds while the Southern Farm Show moves out of all the building and grounds. The 39th-annual show, which features more than 500 manufacturers with expert advice and the latest farm equipment, supplies and services, ends Friday at 7 p.m. Admission is free. The fairgrounds is a bit slower this weekend as we gear up for the Southern Farm Show, which starts Wednesday, Feb. 5.  The Farm Show is the largest event of the year at the fairgrounds, other than the N.C. Southern Farm Show draws farmers to the Fairgrounds

Nearly every inch of the N.C. State Fairgrounds will be filled with farm equipment for the Southern Farm Show Wednesday, Feb. 2, to Friday, Feb. 4.
