Country superstar and Garner native Scotty McCreery is no stranger to the N.C. State Fair. He played two sold-out concerts during the 2012 fair, and we are lucky to have him performing again this year on Oct. 21 and 22. McCreery’s nationwide popularity started when he burst onto the country music scene after winning “American Idol” in 2011. I’ve never been a fan of “American Idol.” I don’t dislike the show; I’ve just never really had a chance to get hooked. But on May 25, 2011, like many others from this area, I was glued to my TV screen for the “American Idol” Season 10 finale for the tight competition between Lauren Alaina and Garner native Scotty McCreery. Scotty McCreery coming to the 2012 N.C. State Fair

Never let it be said that we lollygag when it comes to planning for the next N.C. State Fair. We’ve already lined up one of our Dorton Arena performers for 2012 and it’s none other than Scott McCreery, the Garner-teen-turned-American Idol. He will perform at the 2012 fair Monday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and go on sale Monday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m., in time for holiday shopping.
