Flea market and other activities return as cautious fairgrounds reopening continues

Shoppers rejoice! The flea market at the N.C. State Fairgrounds has reopened, and it’s welcoming the public once again – the socially distanced, clean-handed, nose-and-mouth-covered public, of course. Officially called The Raleigh Market these days, it actually re-opened a few weekends ago for the first time since closing because of COVID-19. It will be open Labor Day weekend as usual, just not on Labor Day since that’s a Monday. The market didn’t reopen as soon as retail locations were allowed to welcome customers again though. Come Rock ‘n Ride in Raleigh Cyclists at all levels can turn their pedal power into an opportunity to give back to the community at the Rock ‘n Ride Raleigh event. This eight-hour cycling event with food, beer, live music and more, benefits the Tammy Lynn Center, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities in the Triangle. Due to the cold temperatures and recent winter weather, the Raleigh Flea Market will be closed this weekend. Other events will continue indoors. Weekend events: Check out the Spa Blowout is in the Exposition Center where visitors can expect big saving on hot tubs and spas. Hours are Friday, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free and purchased items will be delivered. The Triangle Gujarati Association Navaratri is Friday and Saturday in Dorton Arena. The TGA was created in 1988 to serve the Gujarati community in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. The organization aims to promote and preserve Gujarati Culture. The event is a pre-Navaratri celebration and will feature traditional cultural line dancing from Gujarat, India. Come find a new furry friend, examine antique bottles, or watch a youth cattle show at the following events: The Capital Dressage Classic is Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free for this nationally recognized equestrian competition, which will feature a vendor fair.
