Pack Pullers’ tractor on display at N.C. State Fair

Visit the Antique Farm Machinery barn near the Village of Yesteryear, and you’ll see a tractor that stands out from many of the historic pieces. North Carolina State University’s Pack Pullers tractor is on display, and it’s a shining example of modern engineering. Pack Pullers has developed the tractor to compete in an engineering contest that helps prepare students for workplace challenges by providing real-world engineering practice. Our own ice cream flavor? Madness!

On any given day of the N.C. State Fair, at any given hour, you’re likely to find a line at the Howling Cow booth, formerly known as the N.C. State Dairy Bar. They got a new name and logo a few years ago, but the delicious, heaping serving of ice cream (and their rabid fan base) didn’t change at all. Last year, we gave the N.C. Yeah! No home games during the Fair!

If you were in Raleigh yesterday, you probably heard a collective sigh of relief coming from the State Fairgrounds, traveling in a wave all along Hillsborough Street and the N.C. State University campus, all the way downtown to the Agriculture Building when the Wolfpack football schedule was released. Not only does the Wolfpack mark their season opener on ESPN in a Thursday night matchup against the South Carolina Gamecocks, there will be NO home football games at Carter Finley Stadium during the N.C. Sights, Sounds and Smells: Mtn. State Fair, Part I

I mentioned a few posts ago that the corn on the cob cupcakes (which won a blue ribbon, by the way!) had me craving roasted corn. Well, here at the Mtn. State Fair they have deep fried corn on the cob, making our Deep Fried blog very proud. I vote to bring this to the State Fair!
