On the move: LEGOs and more find new homes at the Fair

***This blog has been changed to reflect that Mt. Olive Pickles will not be able to come to the fair this year due to flooding from Hurricane Matthew. Looking for your favorite fair booth or exhibit? Several popular competitive exhibits, as well as many favorite vendors have moved to new locations. The entire hobbies and handicrafts department has moved to the Commercial Building. This department includes wood-working, egg art, LEGOS, scrapbooking and more. “The move gives us more space, including more hanging space, and the exhibits will be able to be displayed properly,” said Denise Walker, director of competitive exhibits….

Pickles, peanuts and fair traditions

Most fairgoers like their traditions. Some only want the steak sandwich found at that one food booth that they eat at every single year. Others must always start their fair day at the same gate and visit their favorite fair attractions in the same order. One family we know always starts their day at the fair at the grist mill near Heritage Circle, with a hot, free hush puppy.
