Celebrate North Carolina’s military on Military Appreciation Day Oct. 19

The Military Appreciation Day Parade will be held at 11 a.m. on the main midway and through Kiddieland.

The N.C. State Fair will celebrate members of the U.S. Military for their contributions to keeping our country safe on Military Appreciation Day, Wednesday, Oct. 19. As part of this tribute there will be several activities for fairgoers to participate in. Here’s a look at the deals and activities planned. Free pins The first 3,000 people through the gates on Military Appreciation Day will receive a military appreciation pin. Casey’s Highlights from the 2015 N.C. State Fair

The 2015 State Fair ended just over a week ago with attendance topping the 1 million mark. This week Casey Cardinal is offering a trip down memory lane to look back at his top five highlights from the fair. Friday Frenzy and record attendance days: The fair started with two record attendance days. Preview Day on Thursday brought in a record 50,327 people. Friday’s new promotion, Friday Frenzy, brought in 90,954 people, many who took advantage of the $5 admission for students and an unlimited ride wristband promotion. New military price salutes current and former service members

The N.C. State Fair is saluting members of the military with a new discounted admission price for service members. The past five years or so, the fair has offered free admission to active-duty members of the military and their families on Military Appreciation Day, which is held on Wednesday during the fair. While the gesture was appreciated by service members, we were asked to consider changing the policy for two reasons. One, it’s hard for military families to get to Raleigh on a weekday, and two, the policy omitted retired service members. So we are changing the policy in response…
