On the Monday before the 2021 N.C. State Fair started, a special guest joined the Deep Fried Crew’s Media Day to help judge some of the 2021 fair’s new foods. Morgan Wilder of Garner is a lifelong fan of the fair who dreamed of getting a preview of the new fair foods and getting to taste them. Her dream came true on that Monday! Cool Runnings wins Best New Food at annual State Fair media day

Stephen and Andrea Millington have been serving up jerk chicken, tacos and pork wraps for 18 years at the N.C. State Fair. This year, the couple took top honors for best new food at the annual N.C. State Fair media day, their new jerk pork wrap with mango sauce. Most of the year, Stephen and Andrea Millington work day jobs. Living the ‘Arepa Loca’

Arepa: A Colombian and Venezuelan cuisine made from maize or corn dough and filled with meat, cheese, sauce, beans, etc. On Monday, Oct. 9, during State Fair Media Day, media and guests tasted new foods from 14 vendors and voted for their favorite. Arepa Loca, a Raleigh-based family business, took home the blue ribbon for 2017 Best New Food. This is their first time as a vendor at the fair.
