Weekend Update: Dinosaurs: Time Trek, India Fest, Puppapalooza and more

Puppies and cats and dinosaurs? Oh my! It’s that kind of weekend at the fairgrounds where there’s something for everyone. Visitors to the State Fairgrounds can travel back to prehistoric times with the Dinosaurs: Time Trek exhibit on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Graham Building. This event will feature a life-like interactive dinosaur exhibit as well as activities such as Design-A-Dino, Prehistoric Poop and Race Through Time Labyrinth. Weekend update: March 17-19

India Fest, with more than 1,200 performers, returns to the fairgrounds this Saturday and Sunday in an expanded location. Enjoy the largest Indian cultural celebration of it’s kind in the nation. Discover Indian cultural arts through dance, music, cuisine and traditional crafts in a bazaar-style atmosphere in the Exposition Center. Event hours are Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, 11  a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Raffles and door prizes will be held throughout the event.  Admission is $6 daily. Weekend Update: March 18-20

        There’s a full line-up of events at the fairgrounds this weekend. Raleigh Indoor Spring Classic – “A” Show is at the Hunt Horse Complex starting Thursday through Sunday. This is a USEF A-rated show sponsored by Triangle Farms. Shows begin daily at 8 a.m. Spectator admission is free. The Spring Carousel Gift Market is Friday through Sunday in the Graham Building. Weekend Update: March 21-23

Enjoy the first weekend of Spring with a visit to the Raleigh Flea Market or one of the other events at the N.C. State Fairgrounds this weekend. The Raleigh Flea Market will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with hundreds of vendors offering a variety of goods and services in the Commercial and Education buildings and the outside grounds. Weekend Update: March 23-25

Spring has sprung, which means it must be time for the Kennel Club Dog Show. The Championship Purebred AKC event started yesterday and will continue through Sunday. Area kennel clubs will host daily dog shows, obedience and rally trials. Shows will run in the Graham Building from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m each day. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 7-12. Senior citizens and children under 7 are admitted free. Fairgrounds events add culture, variety to the first weekend of spring.

By all accounts, spring will begin with a weekend full of beautiful weather. What better time for a family outing at the N.C. State Fairgrounds? With hundreds of events each year, the fairgrounds offers a variety of activities to choose from, and some of the more popular shows have a decidedly cultural flair. The India Fest Cultural Arts Showcase will take place in Dorton Arena Friday through Sunday. This festival has grown in popularity and size since its first year at the fairgrounds in 2004, expanding to a three-day event, and will kick off tonight with a live dance and music show featuring Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal….
