Opa! It’s one of the tastiest weekends of the year. The popular Greek Festival returns Friday through Sunday in the Graham Building. The event will offer authentic Greek food, a marketplace, live music, dancing and more. A portion of the proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. That means if you are headed to the fairgrounds come hungry.  The festival will start at 5 p.m. Friday in the Graham building and include authentic Greek food, homemade Greek pastries, a marketplace and live Greek music and dancers. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this weekend at the fairgrounds. That’s because, we’re hosting the 31st annual Greek Festival. After more than 30 years, the cultural festival long been a Raleigh tradition. If you’ve never been, you can look forward to authentic Greek food and pastries, cooking demonstrations, music and dancing and a Greek marketplace. Weekend Update: September 16-18

September has been a busy month a the fairgrounds and this weekend is no exception. The weekend kicks off today with the 53rd annual N.C. State Championship Horse Show in the Hunt Horse Complex. The event is hosted by the Raleigh Lions Club and will benefit local charities. On Friday visitors can also check out: Meredith College’s Sizzlin’ September Concert in Dorton Arena featuring The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Fairgrounds events add culture, variety to the first weekend of spring.

By all accounts, spring will begin with a weekend full of beautiful weather. What better time for a family outing at the N.C. State Fairgrounds? With hundreds of events each year, the fairgrounds offers a variety of activities to choose from, and some of the more popular shows have a decidedly cultural flair. The India Fest Cultural Arts Showcase will take place in Dorton Arena Friday through Sunday. This festival has grown in popularity and size since its first year at the fairgrounds in 2004, expanding to a three-day event, and will kick off tonight with a live dance and music show featuring Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal….
