Weekend Update: June 12-14

Quarter horses are taking over the Hunt Horse Complex for the 2015 Tarheel Triple Classic. Come see riders from across North Carolina compete in Western pleasure, trail and other categories. The classic, which will continue through June 20, combines three shows into one 10-day long event — the NCQYA Show, NCQHA Jamboree and Little Futurity. Weekend Update: July 12-14

July 4th kept things quiet at the fairgrounds last weekend, but now we’re back with events for horse, jewel and gem enthusiasts. The State 4-H Horse Show began Wednesday and continues through Sunday. Hours this weekend are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The show features more than 2,600 entries in 123 classes that highlight youth 4-H members. The exhibitors are demonstrating their riding and management skills with their animals to the panel of judges. Admission is free for all spectators, so don’t miss this opportunity to support 4-H. Weekend Update: June 8-10

If you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to come out and explore the Raleigh Flea Market. The weekly market features hundreds of vendors selling everything from bowling balls to Bermuda shorts. Weekend Update: July 1-4

The holiday weekend at the fairgrounds kicks off today with the start of the NCHJA Annual Hunter Jumper Show at the Hunt Horse Complex. Horses will compete for thousands of dollars in prize money, and the show will feature a variety of special events open to the public. Visitors will have the chance to pet ponies, watch a blacksmith at work and browse the offerings at a silent auction.
