Saturday is for beer lovers No craft beer lover should miss the 13th annual World Beer Festival this weekend at the Fairgrounds. With over 75 breweries participating from all parts of the country, it bills itself as the premier beer festival in the Triangle. Attendees can sample from more than 250 beers in a variety of styles, enjoy a meal from the food truck rodeo and live entertainment, silent Disco and more. Weekend Update: June 8-10

The Exposition Center will be home to the Raleigh Money Expo, the biggest money show in the Carolinas, this weekend, June 8-10. At Raleigh Coin Club’s 45th annual coin, currency and stamp show, you can buy, sell and trade coins, paper money, stamps, gold, silver and more. There will also be free educational seminars and exhibits on Friday and Saturday, and a special “kids zone” with games and prizes. Check out the following events: The Tarheel Triple Classic Quarter Horse Show is Friday through Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. daily in the Hunt Horse Complex. Weekend Update: July 11-13

The State 4-H Horse Show will be at the Hunt Horse Complex through Sunday. This championship horse show features more than 2,600 entries in 123 classes, highlighting 4-H members exhibiting their project animals and demonstrating their riding and management skills. Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free. Friday thru Sunday, the Gem and Jewelry Show will be in the Scott Building. Weekend Update: June 6-8

With so much going on at the Fairgrounds this weekend, there’s sure to be something for everyone. The weekend events kicked off Thursday morning with a Welcome Home Send-Off Ceremony for World War II veterans. Operation Omaha/USO of N.C. organized the ceremony for the return of 100 WWII veterans from their visit to the National D-Day Memorial for the 70th anniversary of the battle.  Organizers anticipate the veterans returning around 7 p.m. Friday, and the public is invited to come join in this welcome home acknowledgement ceremony. Weekend Update: June 29-July 1

If you’re headed to the fairgrounds this weekend, bring plenty of water because it looks like it’s going to be a scorcher. Stop by Saturday and Sunday for the weekly Raleigh Flea Market. Vendors will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily selling everything from watches and wingnuts to fresh fruit and furniture.
