A day to enjoy Japanese culture The 2018 Japan Summer Festival is Saturday in the Exposition Center. This year’s Japanese Natsu Matsuri Summer Festival will feature traditional street food and drink, including Japanese beer. Attendees can enjoy stage entertainment and traditional Japanese bon odori dancing, performances with taiko drums and other Japanese musical instruments, Japanese choir and musicians, martial arts demos and other Japanese cultural entertainment. Tables will be hosted by other Japanese interest groups and will feature traditional Japanese games for children, displays of Japanese arts and crafts, cultural presentations and Japanese items for sale or trade. Wake County Libraries Book Sale, Dixie Gun and Knife Classic and more this weekend

Books as far as the eye can see (well, almost) at the Wake County Book Sale. Calling all bookworms! The popular Wake County Public Library Festival of Reading and Book Sale is this weekend in the Exposition Center. Books are copies that have been pulled from circulation or come from donations. All books are in good condition. Plenty of bestsellers are up for grabs, as well as cookbooks, textbooks and books on history and religion. Cash, checks and all major credit cards accepted. Weekend Update: May 6-8

Haven’t check out the Triangle’s newest professional indoor football team? This Sunday is your chance as the Triangle Torch returns to Dorton Arena to take on the Philly Yellow Jackets. Doors open at 2 p.m. and the game starts at 4 p.m. Box seats are $18 for adults and $13 for chidren. General admission is $12 for adults and $7 for children. Season tickets are also available. This is a racing trade show and the area’s largest consignment auction of racing-related parts, tools and equipment.
