We hosted the annual Media Preview lunch today in Dorton Arena where we give our media friends a sneak peek at what’s new at the fair, including the food. Our friends from the Murphy House concession stands fried us up some of the new items. Food Review: Deep-fried candy and caramel apples

You may have stopped by one of McBride’s concession stands at the fair in the past. It’s particularly famous for its giant turkey legs, chicken, ribs and barbecue. This year, in addition to some of the old standbys, McBride’s also has a new twist on a State Fair classic with deep-fried candy and caramel apples. Food Review: Deep-fried chicken pot pie

Working in the State Fair press office can be stressful at times, but one of the best parts of the job is getting to sample fair food. We’ve done a lot of reviews for the Deep Fried blog, and here’s our latest one for deep-fried chicken pot pie at Woody’s City Market near the midway.
