Come Rock ‘n Ride in Raleigh Cyclists at all levels can turn their pedal power into an opportunity to give back to the community at the Rock ‘n Ride Raleigh event. This eight-hour cycling event with food, beer, live music and more, benefits the Tammy Lynn Center, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities in the Triangle. Children on three-wheeled bikes are also invited to participate in the Kids Fun Ride. Spectator admission is free and rider registration is $25 per person ($30 on the day of the event). With bottles, military items, antiques and money, it’s an eclectic mix of collections at the fairgrounds this weekend. Rounding out these events is a high-energy Triangle Torch Arena Football game in Dorton Arena and the Junior Beef Roundup in the Graham Building. Weekend Update: June 3-5

The fairgrounds will host a variety of events this weekend. Come find a new furry friend, examine antique bottles, or watch a youth cattle show at the following events: The Capital Dressage Classic is Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free for this nationally recognized equestrian competition, which will feature a vendor fair. Weekend Update: May 30-June 1

The N.C. Junior Beef Roundup takes place Saturday and Sunday in the Graham Building. The event is coordinated by a group of juniors from all over the state, their breed advisers, the Purebred Breeders Council, the N.C. Cattlemen’s Association and the N.C. State University  4-H and Youth Livestock Department. The livestock show includes steer and breed shows, a showmanship competition, skill development and leadership development activities. Weekend Update: June 1-3

It’s a weekend of beef, bottles, horses and collectibles at the State Fairgrounds. The showers are expected to pass this evening, and according to local meteorologists, the remainder of the weekend promises to be beautiful. Weekend Update: June 3-5

Although the 2011 N.C. State Fair is still months away, there’s still plenty to do for everyone at the Fairgrounds this weekend.  The Capital Dressage Classic runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Sunday.  The horse competition also includes a vendor fair.  On Saturday the Classic will also host a special performance by the 82nd Airborne Division’s All-American Chorus and a Medieval jousting and tournament games exhibition.
