Weekend Update: April 6-8

Don’t be alarmed if you see a bunch of robots moving around Dorton Arena this weekend. The robots aren’t dangerous; they are part of the 2012 NC FIRST Robotics Regional. NC FIRST encourages students to pursue degrees in science and technology through hands-on experiences, such as building robots. During the tournament, high school teams from across the country will control their robots through a series of challenges. The top teams from Friday and Saturday will advance to the finals Saturday afternoon. Admission is free. Opening ceremonies take place at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and 8:45 a.m. on Saturday. Another type…

Weekend update: April 22-24

We hope everyone affected by last week’s tornadoes is on the road to recovery. It has been heartbreaking to watch the news reports and see the destruction that left so many families without a home. The N.C. State Fairgrounds was fortunate and received little damage. Many of you were at the fairgrounds during the storm, and we’d like to thank those who have shared their photos with us.
