Fairgoers can stock up on their North Carolina sauces, seasonings and rubs from Bone Suckin’ Sauce at the N.C. State Fair while simultaneously helping our hurricane-impacted neighbors in the western part of the state.
Raleigh-created Bone Suckin’ Sauce is one of many product vendors located in the Got to Be NC Pavilion in Dorton Arena at the 2024 N.C. State Fair. This year, they’ll be donating 100% of their state fair sales to the Hurricane Helene Relief Effort.
Bone Suckin’ Sauce has Western North Carolina roots of its own. Creator Phil Ford, of Raleigh, developed the sauce while attempting to remake his mother’s recipe for a Western North Carolina-style barbecue sauce. The sauce became a hit among his family and friends and he eventually decided to bring it to market in 1992.
Now, the brand crafts a variety of barbecue sauces, wing sauces, seasoning blends, hot honey, rubs and more.

Ford’s Gourmet Foods – a fourth-generation, Raleigh-based family business – distributes the North Carolina-produced product, as well as many other N.C. brands, such as Wine Nuts, Fire Dancer Jalapeno Peanuts and more. The distributor was recently awarded the 2024 North American Agricultural Marketing Officials Marketer of the Year Award. The annual award recognizes an agribusiness company in North America who has demonstrated industry leadership, stand-out creativity and innovation in brand development and marketing.
Bone Suckin’ Sauce is also one of five Got to Be NC members who will bring a taste of North Carolina pride to Germany next month as the Carolina Panthers take on the New York Giants in Munich, Germany. You can tune in to catch all the action live on ESPN at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.
Stop by to see them at the Got to Be NC pavilion now through Tuesday, Oct. 22. The 2024 fair runs Oct. 17-27 in Raleigh.
