
Makeovers and more at the Southern Women’s Show this weekend
It’s girl power at the fairgrounds this weekend as the Southern Women’s Show returns to the Graham Building and Exposition Center. Event includes spa treatments, makeovers, jewelry, gifts, food, wine, cooking classes, health screenings and more. For more than three decades, the show has been recognized as a premier event for women in the Triangle community. This year’s special guest is Vern Yip, nationally known desginer, author who is best known for his role on the TLC show Trading Spaces. Hours are Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $12. Advance tickets are $10 online or $8 at Walgreens locations; admission for ages 6 to 12 is $6. Special three-day passes are available for $15.
The Raleigh Flea Market is Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Commercial and Education buildings and surrounding grounds. Come and browse for treasures at the flea market, recognized as one of the largest in the southeast. Visitors will find hundreds of booths filled with antiques, clothes and handcrafted goods this weekend.
The J.Crew Warehouse Sale starts Thursday and runs through Sunday in the Holshouser Building. Items include J.Crew, Madewell & Crewcuts merchandise and accessories. Some products may be samples or second quality. All sales are final. Hours are Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
Raleigh Invitational Horse Show runs through Saturday at the Hunt Horse Complex. This is an American Saddle Bred and Morgan horse show and serves as a qualifier for the World Championship Horse Show. Free spectator admission. Session times on Thursday and Friday are at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday sessions start at 9 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.

More than 200 boats will be one display this week in the Scott Building
The Chatleee Boat Show and Sale will be in the Scott Building and features a large selection of saltwater, skiffs, ski and deck boats. This show boasts a boat for every budget. Hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
The Pilot Club of Raleigh is holding it’s annual Geranium Sale at the L.R. Harrill Center near Gate 6. Proceeds will benefit various community projects. Hours are Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
The Carolina Roller Derby will roll back into Dorton Arena on Saturday with a double-header event. Doors open at 4 p.m. and the first bout starts at 5 p.m. between the Carolina Rollergirls All Stars against the Rogue Rollergirls All Stars. Game two starts at 7 p.m. with the Carolina Bootleggers against the Ring City Rollergirls. Tickets are available at the Dorton Arena box office the day of the show, or purchase in advance at a discount at www.carolinarollersgirls.com. Attend both games for one price; admission is $15 for adults. Kids ages six to 12 are admitted for $5 and under five is free.
