Social Media Breakfast Raleigh

We had a blast bringing the N.C. State Fair to you in lots of new ways last year, through Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and here on the blog. Social media allowed us to interact with fair visitors in a whole new way, and we’re already working on more ways to do that in 2009.

Right now, we’re working on pulling together lots of facts, figures and stories about our social media campaign for March 24’s Social Media Breakfast in Raleigh. The Social Media Breakfast is a monthly meeting of Triangle (and beyond!) students and professionals who meet to discuss new technology and media and how it’s being used by companies and individuals across the state and across multiple industries. It is open to anyone who has an interest in social media and its impact across all industries.

Not only will we be speaking at the breakfast, but we’ll be hosting it as well. We’ll meet at the Jim Graham Restaurant in the State Fairgrounds’ Jim Graham Building from 7:45 to 9 a.m. Murphy House Restaurant (who serves up many of the delicious and creative fried creations during the Fair) will have an a la carte breakfast available for purchase.

We’ll also be asking for your reactions to the Fair’s social media outreach and what you’d like to see for the 2009 State Fair. Sign up here if you can make it; if not, drop us a line here on the blog and let us know what you think. And be sure to check back next week for a recap of the event!

We hope to see you there!

About Cotton Candy

Karlie Justus - blogged for the 2008 / 2009 N.C. State Fairs. This is her bio from 2009: When I'm not blogging for the N.C. State Fair, I go by Karlie Justus--but Cotton Candy suits me just fine. My earliest memories of the Fair are of the times my parents would bring my brother and I up from Asheville, N.C. for a double dose of the Fair and a N.C. State football game. Fast-forward two decades later, and I'm a public information officer for the deep fried celebration whose must-see Fair attractions include the giant pumpkins, decorated cakes and deep fried Oreos.

I am bummed that I can’t attend. Hopefully I will be able to another time.

  3. I’m bummed too, I’m far to under the weather to try to get anywhere tmw morning. This was looking like a great meetup too.

I’ll be looking forward to the recap and seeing everyone at the next SMBR.

  4. I recently came accross your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
