Shop and win State Fair prizes

Thursday, Oct. 21, is Food Lion Hunger Relief Day at the State Fair. The annual event, where donating four cans of food gets you free admission to the Fair, is one of the largest single-day food drives in the state. All collected goods are donated to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, which serves 34 surrounding counties. Because of the growing need in our area, the Food Bank is encouraging everyone to help stuff the warehouse this year, and we’d like to offer some encouragement.

On Wednesday, we’ll be out and about hiding State Fair prize packs at Food Lion stores near the fairgrounds. So, if you still need to pick up your canned goods, or would like to pick up a few more, stop by these participating locations tomorrow:

  • 3926 Western Blvd., Raleigh
  • 2420 Wycliff Road, Raleigh
  • 3415 Avent Ferry Road, Raleigh
  • 900 N.E. Maynard Road, Cary
  • 2720 Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh
  • 5861 Holly Springs Road, Raleigh

Look in the canned food aisle to find the State Fair prize packs, and don’t forget to come out to the Fair for Food Lion Hunger Relief Day on Thursday.

About Bearded Lady

Paul Jones blogged for the 2009-2012 N.C. State Fairs. Here's his bio from 2009: Paul Jones, here (a.k.a. Bearded Lady). I love the N.C. State Fair. I love the rides, I love the food, but my favorite part of the Fair is the displays of the unusual. The two-headed snake, the world’s smallest woman, the world’s tallest horse and the list goes on. Originally from South Carolina, I hope that I can bring a different perspective to this blog as I shed light on some of the ordinary, yet extraordinary, aspects of this year’s Fair.
