RaeLynn & Bucky Covington bring a night of country to Dorton Arena

Country singers RaeLynn and Bucky Covington will be making ties back to their Carolina roots as they perform at the N.C. State Fair in the Homegrown Music Fest on Monday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Dorton Arena. Here’s a little refresher on the artists:

RaeLynn

RaeLynn auditioned for the second season of The Voice, where she was given her platform and began her career as a country singer. Since her time on the Emmy-winning show, she has released numerous singles including “God Made Girls,” which was the highest debut single by a solo female upon its release in 2014, and her new empowering anthem, “Queens Don’t,” which earned more than 14 million on-demand streams. RaeLynn has sold over 1 million digital copies of her music and totals nearly 250 million career streams, making her one of the highest-selling female country artists of the last three years.

“The Voice gave me a launching pad to really show my personality through my music,” said RaeLynn. Along with her time on The Voice, RaeLynn has appeared and performed on TODAY, Late Night with Seth Meyers and ELLEN.

In 2018, RaeLynn released her Summer anthem, “Tailgate,” alongside Canaan Smith, Corey Crowder and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard.

Raelynn splits her time between Nashville and Fayetteville while her husband is stationed at Fort Bragg.

Bucky

North Carolina Native, Bucky Covington, will perform alongside RaeLynn at the N.C. State Fair. Bucky competed on the fifth season of American Idol, where he gained his platform as a country performer. His first album, Bucky Covington, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart in 2007. Since then, he released a new single “Probably Won’t” and opened his own record label.

“I am excited to perform at the fair and see those who have been fans since the American Idol days,” Covington said. “There is a lot of new music and we have a great band, so we’re excited to show how much we have grown.” Bucky has been to the fair a few times and is excited to come back to be reminded of home.

The Rockingham local cherishes the time he can spend in his home state and do what he loves most- perform. Bucky is not only a country singer, but also plays lead guitar, bass and drums.

About Fried Oreo

On the blog I go by Fried Oreo (AKA Emily Hughes). At the Fair, you'll find me checking out the live music or hanging out in Heritage Circle. My absolute favorite part of the Fair is getting a taste of all the different kinds of food! Counting down the days until it all begins!
