Please Recycle!

Recycling stations located at Green NC, Dorton Arena, the Midway and Heritage Circle.

We’re trying something green this year. Fairgoers can take advantage of four recycling stations around the fairgrounds to dispose of plastic bottles and aluminum cans.

Recycling stations are located at the Green NC exhibit near Gate 11, Dorton Arena, the Midway and Heritage Circle. Look for the recycling symbol on the daily schedule map, and keep an eye out for the brightly colored green and yellow bins.

We decided to offer only four recycling stations as a test project this year, and if all goes well, we hope to offer more recycling options in the future.

In order for this program to be a success, we need your help. Please only put plastic bottles and aluminum cans in the recycling bins, not trash.

I want to give a shout out to the Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance for recruiting an army of community volunteers to staff the recycling stations to aid in the success of the program. Also a big thank you to our partners Waste Industries and Sonoco Recycling.

And thanks to ALL OF YOU in advance for helping us offset the amount of trash that accumulates during the fair.

About Blue Ribbon

Natalie Alford blogged for the 2009-2011 N.C. State Fairs. This is her bio from 2009: I work at the Fairgrounds year-round, so I'm always in the middle of the fun! During the Fair, I work with the press office team to organize events and exhibits, and log a lot of miles on my pedometer. I'm also the County Agricultural Fairs Coordinator, which means I license, promote and visit North Carolina's agricultural fairs and enjoy thousands of blue ribbon entries every year. I hope to see you at the Fair!

  1. I am glad to see that recycling is being offered. It is an easy remedy to keeping these things out of landfills.
