Some people are born with music in their soul, and Christina Eagle, recent contestant on NBC’s hit show The Voice, is certainly one of those people! From her hometown church stage to stages across the world, Christina has worked hard to get to where she is today, and she has no plans to stop now.
Growing up in a family of musicians, Christina learned to sing at a very young age. “Music runs in my family,” she said. “I grew up singing at our hometown church. In fact, when I was three years old, my mom said I ran up to the stage and stole the microphone from the Pastor during church to sing a song! It’s always been a strong love of mine.” During her adolescent years, Christina looked up to musical heroes of the time, including Carrie Underwood, Adele, and Hannah Montana, all of which factor into her personal sound today. “At the root, I am a country singer,” she said, “but I also love to sing other genres of music, including pop and gospel.” Although she has always dreamed of singing for a worldwide audience, Christina had no idea what would come of her audition for The Voice in 2024.

After working her shift as a receptionist one summer afternoon, Christina saw a Facebook link for virtual auditions for The Voice, a vocal competition show on NBC featuring celebrity coaches Niall Horan (formerly Gwen Stefani), Reba McEntire, Michael Buble, and Snoop Dogg. “I honestly didn’t think much of it when I sent in a virtual audition of “My Church” by Maren Morris,” she said. “I was shocked to receive an email 20 minutes later saying that I’d made it to the next round!” Four rounds of blind auditions later, Christina made it to Los Angeles to audition in front of the celebrity judges. “I was incredibly nervous, but also excited to simply be selected for this level of audition,” she said. “I auditioned with ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ by Lainey Wilson and didn’t get a chair turn until the end of the song. I was shocked, and amazed, to see Snoop Dogg turn around for me, ultimately inviting me to come on the show as a contestant with him as my coach!” Christina made it to top eight on the show, skyrocketing her career to a new level. “Snoop Dogg taught me a lot during my time on The Voice, including stage presence, confidence and passion,” she said. “I will never forget the three words he would constantly repeat to me – ‘Just Be You.’ It has not only boosted my confidence as a vocalist, but as a stage performer as well.”
Since her time on The Voice ended, Christina has been performing at venues across the United States and is excited to be taking on the Waterfall Stage at the N.C. State Fair on Sunday, October 19th. She will perform three sets alongside her brother: (1) 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., (2) 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and (3) 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. “Growing up, my family and I always went to the Hickory County Fair, because it was closer than the N.C. State Fair,” she said. “I’m excited to experience the N.C. State Fair, eat all the new foods, meet new people, and play my music to a diverse audience.”

If you plan to attend the fair on Sunday, October 19th, stop by the Waterfall Stage to check out Christina’s show(s)! “I like to have fun during my shows, but I also want people to leave different than they way they walked in,” she said. “I want to touch peoples lives through music, whether that’s old country songs that take them back to their childhood or gospel songs that remind them of all that God has brought them through.” During her shows at the fair, audiences can expect country songs, both older and modern, pop songs (including Adele), and gospel music. Christina and her band also accept requests from the audience, so if there is a song you would like to hear, shout it out! “I love when the audience engages with me, whether that’s through song requests, hand claps, or dancing,” Christina said. “It makes me feel good as a musician to see an audience enjoying the set.” She will also have merchandise, like shirts and hoodies, available for purchase before, during and after her shows, so be sure to check it out and show your support.
When Christina isn’t on stage, she plans to enjoy the full fair experience, including eating a funnel cake and riding rides with her 9-year-old sister. Be sure to say hello if you see her on the grounds and stop in to listen during her shows on the Waterfall Stage!
