I’m thinking sherbet

Yesterday, we got our new “uniform” for the 2008 State Fair – our polo shirts. It’s a geeky thing, but we always get excited to get a new shirt and start wearing it around town. It’s a great conversation starter, usually beginning with the question, “Do you know when the State Fair is this year?” Or “do you know who’s playing in Dorton Arena?” So, you’ve got to be on your game and know the answers if you wear a Fair shirt in public this time of year. But, it’s fun and it definitely gets people talking, even if they’re not talking to you. I always hear State Fair conversations get started around me.

As you can see from the photo, the shirt is orange. Not a traffic stopping orange, but a creamy, peachy kinda orange that reminds me of orange sherbet. So I’ve decided our shirts have got to be yellow next year to finish off the “Triple Threat” of lime, orange and lemon sherbet I get from Lowes Foods. Okay, maybe not, but sherbet is definitely the easiest way to describe the color of the shirts this year.

So if you’re around town and see someone wearing a State Fair shirt, be sure to say Hi and ask them a Fair question…just to see if they can. And if you’re at the Fair and need some help, be on the lookout for a sherbet orange shirt to point you in the right direction. You’re sure to spot us!
