Great Idea: Silhouette Invitation

Sometimes Google Alerts are a girl’s best friend. Paperwhites Press’ Pushing the Envelope blog came through my inbox earlier today and surprised me with info about the Fair. (A hard thing to do!) The invitation and stationary design studio, based in Cary, N.C., blogged yesterday about its newest invitation design for a bride (awesome photo from its blog):

With the state fair just around the corner, I thought I would post about Kyra and Robert’s awesome silhouette invitation for their upcoming wedding. At last year’s NC state fair, renowned silhouette artist, Karl Johnson – cutarts.com was cutting silhouettes. We were able to scan and digitally trace their silhouette cut outs and put them on their wedding invitation and seating cards. The results were awesome, classic black and white paired with a tiffany blue envelope. Karl is quite amazing and has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings among others. We cannot wait to do another silhouette invitation again!

Who am I to argue with Martha Stewart? Lucky for us, Karl will be in the Village of Yesteryear during the Fair again this year, a great opportunity to get a silhouette of you or a loved one. It would make a fun “Thank You” card for your child or, as above, invites to a wedding or anniversary party. If you can’t wait until the Fair, you can go to Karl’s Web site and watch a video of his 1-minute silhouette cutting. Very cool!

Johnson actually made silhouettes for guests at this wedding!

About Cotton Candy

Karlie Justus - blogged for the 2008 / 2009 N.C. State Fairs. This is her bio from 2009: When I'm not blogging for the N.C. State Fair, I go by Karlie Justus--but Cotton Candy suits me just fine. My earliest memories of the Fair are of the times my parents would bring my brother and I up from Asheville, N.C. for a double dose of the Fair and a N.C. State football game. Fast-forward two decades later, and I'm a public information officer for the deep fried celebration whose must-see Fair attractions include the giant pumpkins, decorated cakes and deep fried Oreos.
