Are you a blogger and think you’ve got what it takes to be an honorary member of the Deep-Fried N.C. State Fair crew?

No, we’re not looking to dunk you in grease or put you on a stick. But we are looking for a local blogger who loves the Fair and wants the ultimate behind-the-scenes-scoop: the chance to attend our pre-Fair media lunch, where each year we introduce journalists to the newest and latest foods, entertainers, information and fun the N.C. State Fair has to offer.

We’ll have a catered lunch, N.C. State Fair artists and entertainers, a speaker lineup and one of the deep-fried vendors with samples of a surprise deep-fried dish. You’ll be able to tweet/blog/Brightkite/text/Facebook/etc. about the lunch, and we’ll also give you a Family Fun Pack with four tickets, State Fair poster, bumper sticker and tie-dye T-shirt. The winning blogger will also be able to bring one friend.

Any North Carolina blogger 18 years or older is eligible. Here’s what you do:

  • Publish a post on your blog about why you love the N.C. State Fair and why you would make a great Deep-Fried State Fair Ambassador. Be sure you let us know how to contact you via e-mail.
  • Once you publish the post, do one of three things:
  • Deadline for entries is Friday, Oct. 2. We will send the winning blogger an e-mail on Monday, Oct. 5, when we announce the 2009 Deep-Fried State Fair Ambassador here on our blog, Facebook and Twitter.

Good luck!

About Cotton Candy

Karlie Justus - blogged for the 2008 / 2009 N.C. State Fairs. This is her bio from 2009: When I'm not blogging for the N.C. State Fair, I go by Karlie Justus--but Cotton Candy suits me just fine. My earliest memories of the Fair are of the times my parents would bring my brother and I up from Asheville, N.C. for a double dose of the Fair and a N.C. State football game. Fast-forward two decades later, and I'm a public information officer for the deep fried celebration whose must-see Fair attractions include the giant pumpkins, decorated cakes and deep fried Oreos.
