Every year the N.C. State Fair thrills people of all ages and backgrounds from across the state for 11 exciting days. Fairgoers get the chance to enjoy exciting rides and delicious new foods. The State Fair is also a time to celebrate N.C. agriculture and the hardworking families who make it our state’s leading industry.
Farm Family of the Day, sponsored by Tractor Supply Co., is a program that recognizes one standout farm family each day of the N.C. State Fair. To honor these families’ accomplishments and contributions to North Carolina agriculture, they are awarded tickets to attend the fair on a day of their choosing, where they will be recognized through PA announcements and signs on the fairgrounds.
Today, the N.C. State Fair and Tractor Supply Co. congratulate Double R Cattle Services of Orange County!
This family farm is located in Hillsborough and run by Beverly and Ritchie Roberts. For the couple, farm life is a way of life. They were both born and raised on family farms and are well acquainted with the way of life afforded by working on a farm. After getting married, the two spent a few years living in the foothills of N.C. before moving back to Ritchie’s home farm to carry on the family business. With their children they are now among the fourth and fifth generations to work the farm.
The family makes it a point to raise their children to embody the traditions and values which were instilled in them while growing up on their family farms. Values such as perseverance, hard work, and dedication are incredibly important for them to pass down from one generation to the next. Fully embracing these values is essential for them as they continue on the family legacy.
Within the local community they’re known for their beautiful land which provides visitors and nearby residents with a fun getaway. Guests can enjoy family time while picking strawberries as well as purchasing grass-fed beef. In the future, they hope to be able to engage with their local community even more and foster a greater presence within the area.
The family is looking forward to the upcoming State Fair and it’s one of their favorite annual events. They love visiting the exhibits and learning about what other N.C. farmers are up to!
Congratulations to Double R Cattle Services! Look out for our next featured farm family tomorrow!
