Entertainment all around: Roaming acts at this year’s fair

Part of the excitement of the State Fair is experiencing the unexpected, and this year’s roaming acts promise to add to that excitement. To make your fair experience as amazing as possible, and keep you and your family entertained as you walk around the fairgrounds, we’re bringing back some old favorites and one special new act to our roaming-acts lineup this year.

StatueViva and Washboard Willy and Wishboard Wanda at last year's fair.

In case you missed our previous post, the new act this year is DiVine. A living vine dance act, DiVine has been featured at Walt Disney World and the White House among other places and will be roaming around Heritage Circle and the Flower and Garden Show at this year’s fair! Other larger-than-life acts that have made appearances at fairs past include statue artist, StatueViva; galactic superstar, Rock-It the Robot; and juggler, stiltwalker and entertainer extraordinaire, Carrie McQueen.

That’s not to say the regular-sized performers aren’t spectacular in their own right. You can have a caricature of yourself done by the Al the Artist, who bills himself as the “fastest draw in the West;” have a quick laugh with Hubba Bubba the Clown; let your kids meet the Mobile Robots as they ride around the grounds; or take part in Washboard Willy and Wishboard Wanda’s “Share the Rhythm” Jamboree.

Whichever act you choose to enjoy, all are included with your ticket to the fair. Speaking of tickets, don’t forget that discount tickets are available online now through Oct. 13, and walk-up locations will open Sept. 29.

About Tilt-A-Whirl

Jeff Miles interned for the N.C. State Fair in 2011. This is his bio from that year: People usually call me Jeff Miles but when asked what my favorite part of Fair was, rides was the first thing that came to mind--so call me Tilt-A-Whirl from here on out. I've always been a big fan of the State Fair and I'm really excited to be working here this summer. I'll be bringing you weekly updates on the goings on at the fairgrounds and hopefully much more. I can't wait to see you all in October (and hopefully before)!
