When you get to the fairgrounds every day at 8 a.m. and leave late in the evening, it’s easy to get to the fairgrounds and find a parking spot. However, most people can’t visit the fairgrounds on that same schedule and therefore, they have to deal with the traffic and finding a place to park. A former co-worker rode the bus to the fair with her family a few years ago and has stuck to that routine ever since. Many people claim that it’s the best way to get to the fair. Flying Bob and Bearded Lady review one of the new food attractions at the fair, Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls. The egg rolls are filled with finely chopped steak and cheese and covered in a sweet chili sauce. You can also get the sauce on the side. What do helicopters, Bambi and fire plows have in common? They’re all part of the revamped forestry exhibit at the N.C. State Fair. Visitors entering through Gate 8 will probably notice the bright yellow helicopter in the middle of the lake. The location, formally the site of the fireworks launchpad, is now the landing pad for a variety of forestry vehicles and equipment. With less than 24 hours left before the gates open on the 2012 edition of the N.C. State Fair, employees and volunteers were busy putting the finishing touches on rides, concession stands, exhibits and the grounds. Gates will open for Preview Day on Thursday at 3 p.m. On Preview Day only, ride lovers can purchase a ride wristband for $28, good for any ride between 3:30 p.m. and midnight. The wristband cannot be used on any other days. Thursday is also the last day to buy discounted gate and ride tickets. Tickets can be purchased at walk-up locations until 6…
