Behind the scenes with…the Mountain State Fair guys

I got a chance to sit down with Jim Knight (who you’ll see up first on the video below) and Casey Allen, who work in our Marketing Division and spend a large part of their summers promoting Fletcher’s N.C. Mountain State Fair, to talk about what they’re up to while getting ready for the mountain fun.

Jim and Casey work to coordinate advertisements and news releases to make sure Western North Carolinians know about all the fun scheduled for the fair, which kicks off Friday, Sept. 11, at the WNC Ag Center. I was actually able to go to last year’s Mountain State Fair with them, and these guys work hard. From taking photographs of kids and animals to setting up WLOS News 13 with a prime shot overlooking the fairgrounds for a news broadcast, they’re busy right alongside the rest of the Mountain Fair staff.

In the video, you’ll hear them talk about their favorite fair foods, what they’re looking forward to at the fair, the Ag Center’s new buildings and the fair’s new blog.

About Cotton Candy

Karlie Justus - blogged for the 2008 / 2009 N.C. State Fairs. This is her bio from 2009: When I'm not blogging for the N.C. State Fair, I go by Karlie Justus--but Cotton Candy suits me just fine. My earliest memories of the Fair are of the times my parents would bring my brother and I up from Asheville, N.C. for a double dose of the Fair and a N.C. State football game. Fast-forward two decades later, and I'm a public information officer for the deep fried celebration whose must-see Fair attractions include the giant pumpkins, decorated cakes and deep fried Oreos.
