All Aboard to the N.C. State Fair!

In addition to your admission ticket and attraction tickets, there’s one more ticket you may want to consider for your trip to the State Fair…a train ticket! If you are traveling west to the State Fair from outside of Raleigh then the train is a fun and convenient way to get to the fair!

During the fair, NC By Train and Amtrak have a special stop at the State Fair (Station NSF). The train delivers passengers near an entrance to the fairgrounds, eliminating the stress that can come with parking. Passengers can board the train at stations in Charlotte, Kannapolis, Salisbury, High Point, Greensboro, Burlington and even Durham or Cary.

The State Fair train proves to be popular year after year. Some passengers purchase their tickets as soon as they go on sale and tickets can sell out in as fast as a week! An NCDOT Amtrak train has many perks including comfy seats, free Wi-Fi and a café car.

  1. Hi Deep Fried. Congrats on your journey!
I’m traveling to the Fair with 2 other adults and 2 children (10 & 11). We are taking Amtrak on 10/17. Do you know how far away the Amtrak stop is from the Fairgrounds? The stop only reads, NC State Fair. If you do not know will you please point me in the right direction by giving me contact information for someone who might be able to assist me before day’s end on Friday, 10/15, please?
    Thank you
